The state of the industry – you are at risk and the risk is real

As the IT community has seen over the last ten years, when a disaster occurs all clients are subject to the current backup provider decisions that will cause their customers to sit in the queue and wait for backup facilities to become available.  By using the contract terms like “first come first served” it means that there is a high probability that the location you were assigned may not be available.

Because the current Backup providers are closing sites, it leaves your company exposed. If the location is not available, the vendor may assign an alternative location, and even then there is no guarantee that it will be available.

The one fact that came to light during 9/11 was when another location was available, public transportation such as airlines and trains were not running - the vendors support personnel was simply not available due to overwhelming demand.

Over-subscription

We are all aware of the fact that all of the current Mainframe DR providers have oversubscribed all of their locations.That means that you may have tested on a certain site for years, only to find during a disaster that the site assigned may be too difficult or impossible to get to in the event of a disaster.

It has proven difficult to find the number of subscribers by machine or by location. The situation is only getting more severe. The other factor that we must realize is that many of the vendors are closing up sites, putting your company at even greater risk.

By creating the false sense of security could lead to disastrous results, unfortunately when your company is in need of a recovery site. Under our program the site that you contract for will always be your site for both testing and recovery.
